Have a little patience and think about example

Picture this in your mind…..you are leaving an 80km/h roadwork’s zone and you approach a Learner Driver which has the legal driving speed of 80km/h. Behind you is a truck who wants to speed up, are you going to stay behind the Learner Driver until you find a safe passage to speed up and overtake or are you going to break rules and worry other people in the process?

This evening this particular situation occurred and I did like every other sensible driver did and waited for an overtaking lane. According to the driver of the truck behind me this was not good so I got a nice burst of high beam and then as soon as we got to a wide enough section of road, he decided it would be a good idea to speed up and overtake us.

What kind of example is this behaviour on the road setting to the younger drivers?

iPhone = iWin or iFail?

With only hours to go until the launch of the iPhone 3G in Australia I have lots of questions building in my mind.

I am not one of the people that has interest invested in them as I have a smartphone already, but out of those out there that do…I wonder:

  • How many of those new iPhones are going to be purchased outright
  • Which network will be most preferred for 3G Capabilities
  • The performance of these phones in Regional Areas
  • Whether the pricetag justifies the effort

With all the Aussie phone networks buying into having the phones it is going to be interesting finding out sales stats in a few weeks track!

Delays in getting to work

I was slightly delayed for work today due to the fact that the Hume Highway Southern Alliance began the works in putting the Hume/Olympic Highway Interchange bridge sections in place.

Not that I was overly worried, because I can arrive 30 mins late and still get the things for the day done before I start panelling at 5PM

And I have attached a picture because I was bored waiting and took one :p

Failworthy - SOUL

Time for a new blog category I like to call Failworthy. You will get the gist of it after you read this post ;)

This week’s failworthy item is my experience with SOUL.

I decided to investigate Wireless Broadband with them as I am currently trying Optus and SOUL seems to offer a better quota for a little bit more than Optus.

I do the normal thing and ring the sales department but I asked the question “will you be offering any other modems down the track, as the current one only supports 2100mhz and Optus has setup both 2100 and 900mhz towers that are capable of serving broadband internet”.
The chap on the other end seemed a little bit confused as he mumbled to himself and proceeded to place me on hold.

Not long after sitting on hold my call was answered by someone in billing, who asked me for details and when given the same question could only tell me I was talking to the wrong person, and would you like to be transferred to sales as there is no department to deal with Wireless Broadband…..so I told them why bother and hungup.

I know it was a rather confusing question for some, but there should be someone there with some expertise to say yes or no rather than getting so confused and giving up on the customer.

I think perhaps the only reason I may ever look at them again is because of the fact a great bloke owns the local dealership in the area!

Eastlink and motor cyclists with big heads

I was watching the news on Saturday night (I think it was now) and an item came on about how a bunch of motor cyclists staged their own form of protest about the toll charging they will be hit with when the Eastlink clicks over to toll status later this month.

Why do these people think they are special and deserve the right to travel for free?

The object that they are riding is no more environmentally friendly as a newer car and they do carry a reasonable weight about them.
They are also getting charged half the price of a car which is another positive in the eye of a car driver.

Most other states in Australia charge tolls for motorcycles entering the motorway, and I haven’t heard lots of whinging about that.

Perhaps this minute group of Melbournians needs to understand that anything that has a registration plate is classed as a vehicle and should be charged accordingly.

Then again from my eyes, alot of Melbournians are whingers!

Sneaky Sound Tantrum?

You may or may not have heard in the press that Sneaky Sound System did the dirty on Albury/Wodonga in a UK Magazine after being asked why they decided to trash a room in the Chifley hotel during their Groovin The Moo appearance weekend.

How childish do you think this whole thing has become?

Connie can’t own up to the fact that they made a muckery of a room in the hotel and has to come up with lame insults to cover up what actually happened.

In her copout session she called Albury a town with only one hotel and a place that would find sheep shearing entertaining.

If they did not like Albury/Wodonga why did they accept the opportunity to perform here?

Would you like a loan with that?

I went into one of the local branches of NAB today to deposit my fortnightly monies as you do.

When the transaction was completed the teller asked me if I required a credit card and since I already had one I told her that I needed to get my current one down to start.

This teller did not give up and continued to go through 3 or 4 products that I “might” need to which the reply was no thankyou.

I know they might think it is helpful but why do they need to get their teller’s to ask you when you do a transaction?
If I required a Credit Card, Personal/Home/Car Loan or anything like that I would make an appointment with them and see them or phone up and find out more.

Schapelle Corby Program

Has anyone been watching that TV Programme on WIN/NINE over the last couple of nights?

I tuned in for the first time this evening to see what it was all about…..and concluded in 5 minutes how damn sus some of the stories that are being told.

I don’t quite remember the exact story that they dictated in the original form, but this TV Program has not done them any grace whatsoever and really shows them up as a trashy lying mob.

What do you reacon about the whole thing?

No Mail?

I don’t quite know what it is….but it seems quite odd that we have not had any letters into either the mailbox at the road or our post office box since last Thursday.

With a Post Office like ours I always have a sneaking suspicion that they are partially behind it, but then again I might not be popular enough this week I guess.

Oh well!
